Thinking about ordering pizza?
Before you reach for the phone, go to the computer. You can often find a coupon.
Of course, you can and should save the coupon inserts you get in the newspaper and via mail. When my extended family plans dinner, the organizers start by checking their paper coupon stash.
Because I rarely order pizza from chain restaurants, I don’t usually save those coupons. Luckily, major chains have coupons online, and you can also sign up to receive them via e-mail.
If you’re thinking of Pizza Hut, go to www.pizzahut.com and click “Deals.” Enter your address, choose your store and the website will generate a list of coupons.
Papa John’s (www.papajohns.com) and Dominos (www.dominos.com) have similar offerings. Pizza Fusion (www.pizzafusion.com) doesn’t, but follow the locator to your local store and you’ll find out which items are on special on specific nights.
Don’t overlook neighborhood restaurants in your search for coupons. John the Baker in Cooper City, for example, has a page of them on its website.
Another savings route is to friend your favorite pizza joints on Facebook or follow them on Twitter. There is even a Facebook page called Pizza Coupons that aggregates deals.
Valpak, which sends coupons through the mail, offers the same coupons at www.valpak.com, where you can search by ZIP Code and type of goods or services. I found three coupons for local pizza restaurants there.
The proliferation of online coupons gives a whole new meaning to that old phone company slogan, “Let your fingers do the walking.”
